PROGRESS REPORTS

The building has been like a hive of bees for the teachers this week. We have been frantically working on getting our computers up to doing grades and making progress reports.
I am happy to say that I have a good grade program and can easily make up reports to be sent out, we changed how they are done this year. I hope it is easier for the folks at home to understand.

HOMEWORK: This week in both 10 and 12th we did all of Wordly Wise lesson 3. The quiz was today (Friday). It was rather hard in the 10th grade class. I was a little disappointed in the grades so far.

10th Grade: We read in class Contents of a Dead Man's pockets in the 10th grade class this week. Students are to have the story read and the questions on page 19 done and ready for class on Monday. I would have to guess that I'll give the quiz on CDMPs on Tuesday.

12th grade: Everyone should now have English Literature books.
We finished WW lesson 3 and have read the first section of the literature books on the ANGLO-SAXON's in England. The first real story we are reading is Beowulf. This is a difficult story. I would suggest looking for a movie of it to watch.

Have a good weekend.

ENGLISH BOOKS

There are officially English Books in the Building.

10th grade students must now see Ms. Perkins in Room 21 after school.

12th Grade students will be recieving their books during class on Thursday, September 15th.
If you are not in school that day, you will have to see Ms. Perkins after school.

ALSO - the Planners were passed out last week and this week. Each student must bring their planner to class everyday. It is the only way you can get a pass out of the classroom.

10th grade work - Each time we start a new story or reading assignment in class we will do the Quickwrite on the page before the story. This Quickwrite must go into your journal. When I check journals, (which I plan to do on Friday) I will be looking for the Quickwrite of whatever story we are going to do.
Currently - I assigned the Quickwrite on Page 4 of the 10th grade Lit book. I plan to look for it on Friday.

Also, WW 3 a will be due on Friday and the Vocabulary words on page 4.
I would like sentences, in your own words - that shows me you know the proper way to use each vocabulary word.

HOMECOMING WILL BE OCTOBER 8.

New Day - Try again

School is Open today.

I came in today to find the air conditioners running, which means they tried to pull as much power as possible yesterday to see if the system would hold.

REMINDERS -
Students have rewrites of their Essays due.
WW work is to be ready when they walk in the door to class.
Everyone who owns an ENGLISH Literature book must bring it to class.

4th hour has sentences due when I see them today.

All the Drawings are due tomorrow. The assignment from yesterday will be due tomorrow, considering that I saw one class of 10th graders yesterday.

Thank you for your patience in the fixing of our problem.

WELCOME BACK. YES SCHOOL IS OPEN TODAY.

We had a building problem on Tuesday, with a power outage.

I will continue what we were doing and move forward. So, whatever was due on Tuesday, is certainly due today and we will go from there.

I would also like to encourage everyone to find some way, however big or small, to contribute to the relief effort for Hurricane Katrina.
I hope that all family's you may know from the area affected are safe and accounted for.
