HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Friday was a crazy day at school and I hope everyone has a good weekend.

English 10 - We have a quiz on the Truth on Monday. We have 3E do in Wordly Wise, we also have the quiz in Wordly wise on Tuesday.

Speech - We came up with a new topic for the speeches and will be working on perfecting them in class on Monday.

For Thursday

I want to welcome all parents to the Curriculum night here at Old Redford Academy.
Thank you for taking the time to come visit with us and see what your students are working on.

English 10 - Read "The Truth" we need to move on. Bring your LIT book to class, we have some new work to do. Also continue working in the Wordly Wise, we will take the Quiz on Tuesday next week.

Speech - We talked about note cards, and the student lead conferences. We will talk about audience analysis this week, and come up with a new speech topic.

Tuesday

It seems much later in the week already.

English 10 - MUST READ "The Truth" very far behind.
Wordly Wise 3B is due tomorrow.

Speech - we did our speeches in class today and I should have some grades tomorrow. We are going to talk about what to put on the note cards, and how to use them.

Monday- 10-25

Welcome to a new week.
We have started reading "The Truth". Students are to have read up to page 71 by this week. We are reading some of it in class, because it is a little difficult to read.

Homework for Tonight - Wordly Wise section 3A and certainly up to page 40 in the book.

SPEECH CLASS- Today the students read their speeches out loud to their classmates and timed themselves. Tuesday we are giving the speeches in class. This speech is worth 35 points.

Wednesday - Tests

Today we took the Wordly Wise test from section two. I think some students certainly did better this time around.
Tuesday we took a quiz on the vocab and the story, "Contents of a Dead Man's Pockets."

Speech class is starting a new speech this week - A "How to" speech or a speech about their "favorite author or artist."

We are starting to read "The Truth" section 1 - pages 1 to 71

English 10 - a rough draft of their first paper is due tomorrow. They had two topics. 1. Compare internal conflicts between Big Black Good Man and Contents of a Dead Man's Pockets. 2. Show how Tom's views on Home and Work change from the beginning of the story to the end of the story.

The final typed version is due on Monday.

The weekend

Hurray, it is the weekend early.

English homework - the worksheet I handed out. 2 D and 2 E in the Wordly wise book.
7th Hour has a test on the story we are reading.

Speech- write your speech on either "If I had an Island," or "What I'll be doing in 10 years."
We are watching the rest of the debate on Monday.

Good news for students: Friday is a free day. Students do not report to school on October 15th.

English class - 2C in the wordly wise book is due Thursday.

Speech - we are watching the Presidental debate.

Tuesday night

We had tutoring in English 7th hour today.
I am very pleased with the students who did show up.

Due on Wednesday - section 2B from Wordly wise.

Speech class, we chose a new topic and will give the speech on Monday. I would say Thursday, but I don't think we will be able to get through them all in time.

This week will be the progress reports. I am working hard on being prepared with all grades. Students who are in trouble were given reports today to warn them. I also informed them that it would be in their best interest to come to tutoring.

English 10 - Everyone has now taken the quiz and is working on reading "Contents of a Dead Mans Pocket" in the English Lit book.
A Sentence for each vocabulary word on page 4 must be written and turned in On Tuesday.
Also, Homework is 2 A in the Wordly Wise book. Due when walk in on Tuesday.

Students need to have "The Truth".

Speech - We took the quiz and will continue reading the new article.
Homework this week is to watch the Debate on Wednesday night and fill out a worksheet.

Wednesday

We finished the 1st section of the Wordly Wise book today. There will be a quiz on Friday on the 15 vocabulary words from section one.
Bring the Elements of Liturature Book to class on Thursday.

6th hour is writing out sentences for those 15 vocabulary words.

Speech class - We finally read our speeches on "If I had 24 hours to live".
We will be looking at the vocabulary for the quiz on Friday on the article "How to conquer public speaking fear". There are 14 vocabulary words from this article.

Tuesday Evening

Speech class - We went over the "If I only had 24 hours to live" speeches, be prepared to give the speech when you come into class. I will be looking for eye contact, three main ideas, and ease in reading.

English 10 - Students are to bring their book "The Truth" to class on Wednesday.
Students are to have 1D finished in the Wordly Wise book. We went over 1a, 1b, and 1c in class. In many instances we went over at least one or two parts of 1d.

Bring the Wordly Wise homework to class on Wednesday - ready to be turned in.

Monday in October

I have returned to Michigan. I was having some major family issues out of state.

English 10 - I graded the quizzes tonight and they do not look good. I do not know how you are going to make up for this grade.
YOU need to make sure the 1B section of the Wordly wise book is finished when you come into the classroom on Tuesday.

SPEECH - Your speech on what you would do with only 24 hours to live is due on TUESDAY. You will be giving your speech. I have to write the quiz on the speech fright paper we read together and the vocabulary words from that paper.

Come with the Wordly Wise books on Tuesday. Bring your copy of "THE TRUTH" for extra credit on Tuesday. Make sure to have your English book for class on Wednesday and "THE TRUTH".
