BOOK REVIEWS

Ah the time has come to move on.
I have graded the 10th grade FCA papers and now need to work on the Seniors papers. I hope they are in better shape.

The Seniors have a paper due on Wednesday October 13, on the book they needed to read outside of school for this marking period. I handed out sheets that ask questions about their book. I really want a 3 paragraph paper that answers most of the questions.

12th HOMEWORK - We finished reading the first section of Beowulf. The questions on page 32 are due in School on Tuesday.
We are going to do WW 5a and 5b for Tuesday.

10th grade - WW 5a and WW 5b are due on Tuesday, and the rest of the week daily go up one. The quiz will be next Monday.
We read the three informational articles in the book and tomorrow we are going over the questions on them.
Please remember to bring all your books to class.

HOMECOMING IS October 22, we are having spirit week starting on the 17th.
Thanks

FCA PAPERS

Today - Friday - The first FCA papers of the year were due in my class.

I am proud to say that so far, all but one person has done everything in their power to get their FCA paper to me, on time.

I want to thank all of the parents that helped their students get the work done.
It is very difficult to help your student get their work done for school. We appreciate that greatly. By going to this school it should be clear that all students are expected to type papers for class.

Next week ends the marking period.
It is my intention to grade as many FCA papers as possible this weekend. Students will have the opportunity to fix their papers on Monday for Tuesday.
I will be unable to accept any revisions past Wednesday. All of my grades are due on Friday at 3:30pm.

Also, any student owing me a quiz must see me before or after school by Tuesday.
I will not be collecting any more homework after Monday.

Thank you
Parent teacher conferences will be October 24th.

PROGRESS REPORTS

The building has been like a hive of bees for the teachers this week. We have been frantically working on getting our computers up to doing grades and making progress reports.
I am happy to say that I have a good grade program and can easily make up reports to be sent out, we changed how they are done this year. I hope it is easier for the folks at home to understand.

HOMEWORK: This week in both 10 and 12th we did all of Wordly Wise lesson 3. The quiz was today (Friday). It was rather hard in the 10th grade class. I was a little disappointed in the grades so far.

10th Grade: We read in class Contents of a Dead Man's pockets in the 10th grade class this week. Students are to have the story read and the questions on page 19 done and ready for class on Monday. I would have to guess that I'll give the quiz on CDMPs on Tuesday.

12th grade: Everyone should now have English Literature books.
We finished WW lesson 3 and have read the first section of the literature books on the ANGLO-SAXON's in England. The first real story we are reading is Beowulf. This is a difficult story. I would suggest looking for a movie of it to watch.

Have a good weekend.

ENGLISH BOOKS

There are officially English Books in the Building.

10th grade students must now see Ms. Perkins in Room 21 after school.

12th Grade students will be recieving their books during class on Thursday, September 15th.
If you are not in school that day, you will have to see Ms. Perkins after school.

ALSO - the Planners were passed out last week and this week. Each student must bring their planner to class everyday. It is the only way you can get a pass out of the classroom.

10th grade work - Each time we start a new story or reading assignment in class we will do the Quickwrite on the page before the story. This Quickwrite must go into your journal. When I check journals, (which I plan to do on Friday) I will be looking for the Quickwrite of whatever story we are going to do.
Currently - I assigned the Quickwrite on Page 4 of the 10th grade Lit book. I plan to look for it on Friday.

Also, WW 3 a will be due on Friday and the Vocabulary words on page 4.
I would like sentences, in your own words - that shows me you know the proper way to use each vocabulary word.

HOMECOMING WILL BE OCTOBER 8.
